Doors Open, Saturday 2 Jun

Ottawa will be celebrating Doors Open and the new City Archives will be open to the public on Saturday 2 June. Last year, the building was not ready in time and so the event did not include the City Archives for the first time in many years. This is an excellent time for Ottawans to check out the facilities that are not normally open to the public.

Unfortunately, Doors Open is the same weekend as OGS Conference 2012 in Kingston and our active volunteers will be busy with that event. We need a few members to  stand in for us at the City Archives and explain our hobby to visitors. This is an opportunity to introduce new researchers to our hobby and our Society. It's not as easy as a click of the mouse.

The City Archives will be open only on Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Staff will be on hand but volunteers are needed to assist and also to talk about genealogy and our group. Branch and OGS brochures will be available for those interested.

If you would be willing to volunteer for a three hour shift, please contact me at pastchair@ogsottawa.on.ca.

Thanks.
